These are images of the piece I hope to put into the Toowoomba Contemporary Jewellery Competition. It is called 'Tingles down my spine".

It is constructed of silver plated Kangaroo and Emu bones,Red Coral,Copper Wire and Neoprene to give it a certain amount of flexibility.

The young lady who modelled it for me ,Sarah, comes from the Sudan and has been modelling here in Perth for about 6 months .I was delighted she could model for me.

Its been a while since I added anything to my blog, but I have been caught up with projects I had to do for TAFE plus my own studio work.

Here are some shots of some small sculptures I did durning last year using the fold forming method which I also use for my jewellery.

I have also started silversmithing which I am doing at TAFE and have already made a bowl and base which I will put on my blog as soon as I get round to taking a few shots.I really like the process of watching the metal move when it is worked.

Times just fly by ,or is it that I am slack, that I have not kept my blog updated. But I have been busy and I have started an Advanced Diploma course in jewelley at Central TAFE here in Perth two weeks ago.I already have a degree in jewellery but I felt I needed to learn more about some of the techniques that I have been interested in like Mokume gane.Anyway I dont think you ever stop learning.
The images above are two commission pieces I made for friends in the last couple of months.
Tha bracelet was made with sterling silver and 9ct gold. The sections inside were alternate gold and silver sections which were folded and hand forged to give them texture.
The ring was made from 18ct white gold with an Okoya pearl. It was an anniversary gift. The couple were married by the sea, so I made the ring to represent the ocean surounding the pearl which is still in the oyster.
Both pieces were well recieved, which made me very happy. It is nice to see ones work appreciatd. It makes it all worth while.
Bye the way if anyone is interested I took the photos.

Franc Essential

These are images of my partner and the fabulous range of skin care that she has developed over the last five years. She has called it Franc because she is half French and also it describes her product well ,which is 100% honest. It is made from plant products and contains no nasty mineral products which alot of other products have, and they still claim them to be natural.
The feed back she has had from her clients and retail outlets has been tremendous.Once people try it they become hooked, because they love it so much.I use it myself and can truely say it has done wonders for my skin. From the feed back we are getting its going to be a very big year for Franc.
If you would like more imformation here are her contact details
E:chantal@franc.com.au
W:franc.com.au
T:+61 08 9252 1638
.

Just as a matter of interest I created the jewellry she is wearing,so you can see beautiful skin goes well with my jewellery.

Entry for the Archibald Prize.

An artist friend of mine, Leanne Bray, asked me whether I would pose for her for a painting she was going to do for the Archibald Prize to be held in Sydney in the next few months.Well I gladly accepted, and here are a few shots of the artist at work and a preview of the work which she has kindly let me put on my blog. When it is finished I will show you the end product. It is all very exciting, and I do hope she wins as she is a very talented artist and deserves to be recognised for her talents.

These pictures were taken on my trip back to Sri Lanka in June 2006.The artists are all young students from the local art school, and evey Sunday they display their work in a park in Colombo. As you can see they are very talented and what I loved about their work was the fact that it was so coulorful.

I thought that I would post some images of where Chantal (my partner)and I live.It is a beautiful spot and we love living here. The house is built on stilts, and we built a studio underneath it,so it has the view of the hills.

I have also included a few shots of the studio when it was near completion, and also of the views from the studio.

Oh I forgot you can also see more of my work on my web site
www.why-creations.com

A little bit about me.

This is my first attempt at blogging, with the help of my friend Nyani I have been dragged kicking and screaming into the world of computers which I must admit is a bit daunting, but like they say "no guts no glory",so here I am!!!!.

A little bit about me as the title says.In my past life I was a pilot and did various types of flying from aerial mustering (chasing sheep in aeroplanes) aerial surveys,International and domestic charter and airline flying.I flew the North Sea for 5 years based in Aberdeen in Scotland.

On my return to Australia in 1994 I found getting a suitable job flying very difficult so after flying for a couple of small companies, I decided to go to university and do a Fine Arts degree ,which I completed in 2004,majoring in jewellery.

Since graduating I have had an exibition in the U.K,a couple of galleries in Hamburg took my work and I have had a few exibitions here in Perth.

I am now going to try and put a few images of my work on this blog to show you what I do.
